Mindfulness in the workplace
Maren M. Michalsen and a team of health researchers at Witten/Herdecke University have summarized why mindfulness is so important for a healthy working life. Those who practise mindfulness and integrate it into their everyday (working) life can sustainably improve their stress levels and subjective well-being.
"In recent years, mindfulness has become a buzzword that often goes in one ear and out the other. This may be due to the fact that it initially seems vague and it is not really clear what it actually means. There are various definitions of mindfulness: it is most commonly described as “the intentional directing of attention to the present moment without judgment”. This is achieved through various physical and mental exercises that can have a positive effect on everyday working life."
An interesting summary and analysis of the current state of research on mindfulness in the workplace.
